Hi Katie,
thanks for your feedback. The problem is that some agencies talk about sound branding when they just select an individual music program for a hotel. This is not sound branding. Sound branding exits of individual composed and produced elements which are exclusively ussed - and owned (!) - by one brand. For more details on sound branding terminology please just check my blog and sound branding glossary.
Cheers Karlheinz

Hi Katie, thanks a lot for your comments. I'm a regular reader of hotelmarketingstrategies.com so I really look forward to read more about Craig Foster and Play Network. I had a quick look at what they do and I believe you are right, it is very very close to sound branding. Looking forward to learn more about what they have done for IHG and Hilton! All the best Katie.

Great interview, Fabrice!

We're discussing sound branding with Craig Foster from Play Network this week, and I'm grateful for the info; I want to be sure to ask good questions, as well. :)

Having spoken briefly with Craig about Play Network's involvement with IHG and Hilton, I'm interested in this question: "Are you aware of a hotel brand or independent hotel which have used sound branding successfully?" - I wonder if Craig considers their work to be "sound branding" or "sound installations."

If it's the former, I'd be careful about promising hotels that they can market themselves as the "First hotel with their own Sound Branding & soundscapes," but 'll be able to get back to you with Craig's thoughts later this week... fun to have a few different perspectives on this, and thanks again Fabrice and Karlheinz for the fantastic information!

Hi Julie, thanks for your comment. Most hotels charging for Wifi still have to honour a contract with a third party providers that have paid for all infrastructure. Most of the new hotels are taking a different route investing themselves into the infrastructure so that Wifi can be provided free of charge. It is just a matter of time. Thanks a lot for adding my blog into your blogroll! Best, Fabrice
